In our office in Saigon, we have a visa agent to handle all your visa requirements, an interpretation service to translate your Vietnamese documents into English plus a training room. We use the training room to help people with any inquires about working and studying in Australia, plus help people to understand the cultural differences between Vietnam and Australia.

What’s it like to be a Barista?

Baristas prepare, make and serve coffee-based drinks. They usually work in coffeehouses, cafes and restaurants. Baristas combine their love of coffee with the thrill of working in a fast-paced customer service role.

 Tasks and duties

Understanding coffee and coffee making techniques.

Making coffee and other coffee-based drinks.

Keeping equipment clean and operating.

    Educating staff on coffee and training them how to use the equipment in order to ensure the coffee-making standards are always high.

How to become a Barista.

You don’t need a formal qualification to become a Barista. Short courses are available to help you gain basic skills, and on-the-job training is usually provided.

Complete a short TAFE course to learn the basics of coffee-making and using a coffee machine, such as Prepare and serve espresso coffee. You could also consider completing a Food Handling Certificate (Level 1) if you intend on serving food to customers.

Alternatively, many cafes will offer one-the-job training to new baristas.

    After many years of experience and additional business training, you could consider opening your own cafe.

Nail shop technicians are needed all over Australia in major cities all offering high salaries up to $40 per hour.

Hairdressing is an industry that is significantly all about making people look and feel great. The greatest hairdressers understand their clients’ needs and have outstanding technical prowess and unrivalled knowledge of products, the latest tools of the industry and most importantly key trends. The hair and beauty industry is made up of businesses directing hairdressing, beauty, barber shops, epilation, manicure and pedicure services.

The hair and beauty industry is continuously evolving with constant changes in fashion and the development of breakthrough products, groundbreaking techniques and highly sophisticated technology. The scientific research into anti-ageing and rejuvenating skin and hair care is at an all-time high and it is a truly exciting time to be in the industry. This industry is highly fashion conscious and is driven by fads and trends. Students are able to begin their studies with the Certificate II in Hairdressing (SIH30111) before furthering their studies to complete an apprenticeship in hairdressing.

Industry Overview

The hair and beauty industry in Australia is predicted to deliver $4 billion in revenue this year and is projected to continue to grow over the next 5 years. Employment opportunities for hairdressers are increasing with more than 50,000 job openings predicted over the next five years. Service demand is driven by a complex array of factors including population growth, fashion changes and seasonality.

 

There are currently 12,400 hairdressers in Victoria. Employment prospects for the next five years are good and an average weekly wage of $926.30 and an hourly earnings of $24.80. The 53.6% of students in Australia who studied the Certificate III in Hairdressing (SHB30416) from the people who were not employed before starting the course were employed after completing it.

In the past, the hairdressing industry focused its services on females, with male clients opting for haircutting, beard cutting and a range of design and shaving services. More recently males have also become increasingly active consumers of an expansive range of skin and hair care products and services. The female share of hairdressers is 84.6% and 54.8% of hairdressers work full time. Average weekly hours for full time workers are 37.8%. The main age group is 25-34 years with the median age of 30 years.

Career Opportunities

Salon Hairdresser – Median salary AU $55,000

Over the next four years to November 2019, the number of job openings for Salon Hairdressers is expected to be above average. Employment for this occupation rose strongly in the past five years and rose moderately in the long-term and employment for Salon Hairdressers is expected to grow moderately.

Salon Stylist – Median salary AU $56,238

A Salon Stylist works with other professionals such as fashion designers, photographers, photographic stylists, models to create hair designs combining colouring, straightening, curling, volumizing effects and a range of different design finishes. The next four years, the job opening for Salon Stylists is expected to be high.

Salon Manager/Owner – Median salary AU $59,340

A Salon Manager/Owner are responsible for the overall operations of beauty therapy business, undertaking client contact and business responsibilities. Within the next few years, job opportunities for Salon Managers remain high.

 

Across the hairdressing industry, over the next four years, the number of job openings for Hairdressers is expected to be above average. There has been a noticeable increase of employment for this career has rose strongly in the past five years and rose moderately in the long-term. In the future, employment for Hairdressers is expected to grow moderately. As this is a considerably large occupation, opportunities are predicted to be available in most regions.

Regulation and screening requirements

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is the national regulator of aged care services.

The Code of Conduct for Aged Care outlines the standards of behavior for approved providers, their aged care workers, volunteers and governing persons. The Aged Care Quality Safety Commission is responsible for enforcing the code.

How we’re helping to grow the workforce

A skilled, diverse and valued workforce will provide safe and high-quality care for older people in Australia.

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety final report made recommendations to improve the aged care workforce. We have addressed these recommendations in initiatives aimed to:

    build the aged care workforce to meet the demand of an ageing Australian population

    upskill the workforce with training and qualifications to improve care delivery

    support providers to develop workforce management and culture, to prioritize valued, productive and skilled workers

    develop data and evidence to inform investment for us and the sector in evidence-based programs and policies.
