Overview.
From when I graduated from college in 1972 I worked in the communication industry, working for the Australian government for the ABC, Australian Broadcasting Commission. The ABC is a public radio and TV network in Australia, providing free-to-air radio and TV broadcasts. I worked in the technical area installing and maintaining radio and TV transmission equipment.
This work took me all over Queensland, working in rural and remote areas, I worked in this field until 2003
I traveled to Vietnam in 2004 on a personal trade mission to find products to sell in Australia, I found 2 products that I knew would sell very well in Australia, 1 being the ALPS water filters and the other Chinese medicine, I returned to Australia and I started to import these products from HCMC, I set up a very successful business in Australia selling and an advertising program for the ALPS water filters. It was a huge success over a few years up until 2010 when cheap Chinese copies started to flood the market in Australia.
In 2010, I returned to Asia teaching English in Thailand and China, I returned to Vietnam in early 2012 where I met my future wife, I taught English and IELTS in Vung Tau and HCMC, I returned to Australia with my Vietnamese wife in late 2016, In early 2017 I started to work in the tourism industry in my home city of Cairns, I became heavily involved with a holiday working visa people from Europe, USA, Canada, Asia, and South America, I took on a role of helping people find jobs and also liaising with businesses that needed workers, while also working in Tourism gave me a great insight into the needs and wants of working Visa people and people who needed staff. I finished working in this area in August 2023 and returned to Vietnam to start-up a service helping Vietnamese young people through the hurdles of the application process and employment opportunities in Australia.
